STACKS AND STACKS OF WAX AND WAX…………

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Somehow, this morning with Mark Curtis the topic of albums came up.  M.C. mentioned that he still has many of his old albums stored somewhere in his garage.  The Beatles, Stones, Kenny Rogers, Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, Barbara Mandrell or maybe even the soundtrack from Grease, Urban Cowboy or Saturday Night Fever.  Maybe even Sonny and Cher!  Or how about some of the hair bands from the 80’s like Bon Jovi, Van Halen or Motley Crue?

Okay…  I admit to still hanging on to my Partridge Family album.  Why do we keep these?  Who knows?  Maybe it’s nostalgia, great memories or the fact that they’re just still cool to look at, esepecially the double albums with the fold out photos.   I still have my KISS and Frampton Comes Alive albums!

So M.C. and I are just curious.  Do you still have some of your albums?  And if so, which ones?  Just for fun, list a few here on the Pratt Page.

SLOW DOWN………………………

So tonight the planets aligned and the kids all made it to bed early.  I had finished returning my e-mail, gathering stuff for my show and preparing for the morning.  My lovely wife had fallen asleep on the living room couch and the entire house was settled in for the night.  I had a choice:  Watch the Democratic Convention?  Nah.  Too boring.  Watch the Diamondbacks game?  Nah.  I like watching the games with my son.  Channel surf on cable?  Nah.  I did that last night.  Read a book?  Nah.  My eyes and my mind were already tired from working all day and staring at the computer.

As I turned off my office television, I could hear the rain pitter-patter on my sky light.  I thought to myself…………hmmmm…….yeah…….. why not?  I turned off the alarm and opened the double french doors that lead from my office to the front yard.  I could smell the fresh desert.  I grabbed my favorite comfy blanket and rolled my big, cushy office chair away from my desk and across the wood floor.  I opened the doors wide, turned off all of the lights……. and just enjoyed.  The rain dripped from a huge mesquite tree, the water made it’s own stream down a small rock wall creating a relaxing trickle and everything looked fresh and new under the moonlight.

So many people say they hate Arizona in the summertime.  Well, they just don’t understand what the rest of us already know.

COLLEGE CLASS OF 2012 !

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

college-posters.jpg   The majority of today’s college freshmen were born between 89′ and 91′.  They have never known a life without cell phones.  The only host they have ever known for the Tonight Show is Jay Leno.  They will be the first freshmen class in history to receive more of their news from the internet than from television.   And due to the internet, many of today’s incoming college freshmen have never used a traditional dictionary, encyclopedia or even a phone book.  Many have never consumed tap water, owned a cassette tape or even a movie on VHS!  Most have never owned a camera where film needs to be “developed”, and the hunt for Osama Bin Laden started when they were still in elementary school.

Here is the scary part.  For many of the incoming college freshmen from Arizona, their parents had already been listening to my morning show for over a decade before the day they were born!  Yikes!

Can you think of more?  Please share with the KMLE Nation by posting your comments here on the Pratt Page.
