About Dave
Weekdays: 5:00 AM - 9:00 AM
Dave is currently in his 30th year of radio. Dave began his career at 16 years old on KELK in his hometown of Elko, Nevada. Dave loved growing up in a small ranch town where he lettered 4 years in baseball and basketball, and once rode a horse through a casino. (it was a dare)
It was 1978 when Dave performed his first air shift on KELK. On November 17th, three decades will be celebrated with the release of his autobiography: Dave Pratt, Behind The Mic, 30 Years in Radio. The book is being released nationally through Five Star Publications. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society since Dave battled and triumphed over prostate cancer in 2005. The book is being presold now on www.daveprattbook.com which also offers more info on Dave’s memoir. Each presold book will serve as an exclusive ticket to the private release and celebration of Dave’s book on Saturday, November 15th, two days before the national public release.
After high school graduation, Dave moved to the valley to attend ASU. In 1981, Dave was hired by KUPD where he stayed for 20 years and Dave Pratt in the Morning became America’s Longest Running Rock N’ Roll Morning Show.
In January of 2002, Dave joined Howard Stern on CBS Radio’s alternative rocker KZON. Dave has always enjoyed both rock and country so in 2003 The Mayor accepted the offer to stay with CBS Radio and join Stacey Brooks to host Dave Pratt in the Morning on KMLE Country 108.
Dave Pratt has won and has been nominated for over 100 industry awards including local and national personality of the year awards from Billboard Magazine, Radio and Records, Gavin, the Arizona Republic, Tribune, New Times,
AZCentral, the Country Music Association and more. Dave Pratt’s band has sold well over 100,000 albums and live home videos, and Pratt has headlined to sold out arenas and venues throughout the state.
For nearly three decades, Pratt listeners have raised millions of dollars for Arizona charities. In 1996, the Dave Pratt Dental Clinic for underprivileged kids was founded by Dave and Paula Pratt with The Boys and Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix. The clinic has now served over 6000 kids. Dave is also a major supporter of Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
The Pratt’s are original investors and owners in Alice Cooperstown Restaurant in downtown Phoenix, and the Pratt’s are priority investors and co-owners in the worldwide neighborhood sharing and safety network, www.MyStreet.com
Dave is thankful to his loyal listeners for an incredible ride, but he is most proud of his family including his wife of 20 years this October, Paula, and his 4 children…David 14, Kyle 12, Sammy 10, and Madison 7. Dave and his family reside in Paradise Valley. 30 years ago, Dave promised his listeners that he would never leave Arizona. This is one Mayor who keeps his promise.
